1. What is Aadhaar Card Address Change?

Aadhaar Card Address Change means correcting or updating the address printed on your Aadhaar.
You must update it if:
  • You moved to a new residence
  • You shifted to another city/state
  • Your rental agreement changed
  • Your address proof changed (new electricity bill, gas bill, water bill etc.)

2. Eligibility for Aadhaar Address Change

You can update your address if:
  • ✔ Your mobile number is linked with Aadhaar

4. Aadhaar Card Address Change Online

Follow these updated steps to update address online:

A) Update Aadhaar Address Using Your Documents 

Step 1 - Visit UIDAI myAadhaar Portal

Go to: https://myaadhaar.uidai.gov.in
Click “Login” and enter:
  • Aadhaar number
  • Captcha
  • OTP received on your registered mobile number

Step 2 - Choose “Address update.”

After login, you will see multiple services.
Click on Address update.

Step 3: Choose “Update address using your documents”

  • You will now see two service options:
    • Update address using your documents
    • Update address using Head of Family
  • Click on Update address using your documents.
  • Select "Address"
  • Tap on "Proceed to Update Aadhaar"

Step 4: Enter Your New Address

Fill your new and complete address carefully:
  • House/Building/Apartment
  • Street/Road/Lane
  • Area/Locality/Sector
  • Landmark
  • Pincode
  • State
  • District
  • Village/Town/City
  • Post Office
👉 Make sure the spelling is correct
👉 Avoid unnecessary symbols (/, –, “”)

Step 5: Upload Your Address Proof

Upload a clear scanned copy (JPG/PDF) of your valid address proof:
  • Passport
  • Bank passbook
  • Electricity or water bill
  • Ration card
  • Rent agreement
  • Driving licence, etc.
Blurred, cropped or unclear documents may lead to rejection.

Step 6: Review and Make Payment

Check your details once again → Make a payment of ₹75
Payment options:
  • UPI
  • Cards
    • Debit card
    • Credit card
  • Net banking
  • Wallet
 

Step 7: Save Your SRN

After payment, you will receive a Service Request Number (SRN).
This is required to track your update status.

Step 8: UIDAI Verification

UIDAI will verify:
  • Your address proof
  • Your entered address
  • Document clarity

Step 9: Receive URN

After verification, UIDAI will send a Update Request Number (URN) on your mobile.
This number is used to check your Aadhaar address update status.
 

Step 10: Address Update Completed

Once your request is approved, your Aadhaar address will be successfully updated.
You can now download your updated Aadhaar from the portal.

🟦 B) Update Aadhaar Address Using Head of Family (HoF)

(Use this option if you do NOT have your own address proof)

Step 1: Log in to myAadhaar Portal

  • Visit myAadhaar Website.
  • Login using Aadhaar number + OTP.
  • Choose “Address update.
  • Click “Update Address Using the Head of Family Member’s Aadhaar
This option is designed for applicants who live with their family and do not have their own address proof.

You will see:
Your current Aadhaar address
A form asking for HoF details
Step 4: Enter HoF Details

Fill the following details:


Head of Family’s Aadhaar number


HoF’s registered mobile number


Relation with the applicant (Father, Mother, Husband, Wife, etc.)
Step 5: Upload HoF’s Address Proof

Upload a valid document that belongs to the Head of Family.

Example:


HoF’s passport


HoF’s bank passbook


HoF’s electricity/water bill


HoF’s ration card
Step 6: HoF Approval (OTP Based)

The Head of Family will receive an OTP on their registered mobile number.
They must approve the request using that OTP.
Step 7: Make Payment (₹75)

After approval, you must make the payment and save the generated SRN.
Step 8: Final Verification & Completion

UIDAI will verify all details and documents.
Once approved, your Aadhaar address will be updated successfully.
